Production of grape, which is one of the tastiest fruits of the grapevine family, dates back to times before Christ. Grape is depicted in any artwork that represents Western and Mediterranean civilizations in particular.

Turkey is one of the regions where grape is produced the most globally. Several different varieties of grape are produced in our country, which has a very old viniculture. Although grape is produced almost in any region in Turkey, highest amount of grape production is made in Aegean and Mediterranean regions. Yellow, green, dark blue, pink, red and black tasty grapes are produced in aforementioned regions.

Grape, which may be consumed by itself, is also used in production of vinegar, wine, jam and oil intensely. 71% of world grape production is used for wine, 27% as fresh fruit, and 2% as dried fruit.
